Pointer x (Quite small for this type of dog)

This dear little fellow is a happy clever little dog, he is about a year old. He is full of energy so needs someone who has a garden (he can live out with a kennel in a secure garden but should not be tethered). He will need a lot of walking and attention if he is not to get bored. He is good with people and would be good with children but he is not good with cats (he tries to chase them). He is definitely intelligent and learns quickly. If you know anyone that would offer him a good forever home then please contact us.

Poor baby!

I found this tiny little girl this morning. She was alone with no mother. She has a bad infection in her eyes but thankfully a trip to Dr. Maria has improved things quite a lot. All she needs now is someone to give her a forever home. She is very brave and is eating well and using a litter tray. She is fine with other cats and dogs. As she is only 4 weeks old she is too young for vaccinations yet but I am assured she will make a full recovery. She would be better with another little kitten or an older cat but so long as she has love she will thrive. If you can offer her some tlc then call me.

Those poor cats again!

I have jhust heard that the poor cats at Coral Bay are going to lose their 'home' in less than a month. The whole site is going to be bulldozed so the bushes and trees where they were born and have sheltered from sun and wind and rain wont be there any more. I am going to have to work fast to try and find safe area to move these cats to especially the babies. There are about 15 to 20 young ones some as young as 6 weeks. If anyone has some safe land and would be willing to take some please contact me.All they need is shelter and food. Parc will pay to neuter them etc. I know a very kind lady in Limassol offered to help me with feral cats but she is not available until early November. Please let me know if you know anyone who will help. Normally we would move a number of them to Ann's house (Deputy Chairperson of Parc) but as most of you know she has a very badly broken leg and ankle and is still in hospital so I am having to reduce the number of cats there too. I think it is time for prayers.

A new picture of Coral Bay Cats

I am so proud and pleased with this group. We have only been involved for a week and they are all looking so well. When I first saw them 2 of the tiny kittens had the 'runs' but now after anti-biotics they have made a full recovery and look super. All the mothers we have spayed look well, of course they were vaccinated and wormed and treated for parasites while they were in the clinic. I am now just going to do a notice to put up to say that we are caring for this group and asking visitors who want to feed them to give them dried food and water and take away the rubbish when they have fed them. People who give them soft food and leave the empty tins behind are leaving them extremely vulnerable. Cats get their heads stuck in the cans and they get badly injured. Also the dried food is better for them in Cyprus as flies are more attracted to soft food and this can cause tummy upsets etc. At least the group are thriving now Parc will continue to monitor them and home the little ones if possible.

Comment from Marie in Scotland.

Please click on the comment under Coral Bay cats. You will see from what Marie says that she has seen the extent of the problem we have here in Cyprus and in particular with this group of cats. Thank you so much for your comment Marie and also for your very kind donation to help. If just 1 in 10 people that view the blog made a similar donation we would have 500 euros to help with this group which would be an enormous help.
I will say that the Cyprus Government are much more aware of the problem now. Organisations like Parc have been working hard. We are now part of an Umbrella Group called Cyprus Voice for Animals. This is run by 2 Cypriot women who not only care and love animals but they work hard to get the Laws changed and acted upon here. The Government give a small amount of cash each year to help organisations like ours with neutering cats and this amount has been increased this year largely because of the work of Cyprus Voice for Animals. Parc have spayed well in excess of 1000 cats since we started, we spayed nearly 300 in the past year. Believe it or not we are winning in the Peyia Coral Bay area. That is why I was so distressed to come across this group. The majority of cat groups that we care for are under control and we only find the odd new one coming in that still needs to be done. Parc will never ever refuse to neuter a cat. We will do this free of charge in our area although a donation towards the cost is always appreciated. Parc will also never ever refuse to treat a sick or injured animal. All we ask is that if possible the person reporting the problem will transport the cat to our Veterinary (Dr. Maria in Lemba) we will loan traps and cages and if they cannot do this then one of our team will try to assist. We may be a small group of people but we do without question provide a 5 star service. Long may we be in a position to continue. With help from our supporters we struggle on. Without financial support we cannot do anything. Clare and I have been out at 7am the last 3 mornings trapping cats from the Coral Bay group. Trust me it is time consuming and tiring but we get a lot of satisfaction from taking these little ones to our Veterinary and bringing them homes safely the following day. Thank you again Maria.

Part of the group found at Coral Bay

This is a small part of the group that need our help in Coral Bay. Please read the story below. The old lady that fed them died last week and if Parc dont take over they will be very hungry. Also please note the For Sale board behind them. We have just been told the site is going to be cleared so the cats wont have any shelter and once the developers move in it is likely they will be poisoned. We are getting them all neutered, we have spayed 7 in the 3 days, and then I am trying to find a safe area to move them to. There are 3 or 4 that are very friendly and could be homed. Obviously it is a massive task but we have done this size group before and had a great deal of success. We will try! If we don't who will?

black kittens

We have 2 black kittens and 2 black and white kittens need a home. We have had these in our pens since they were very tiny. They are all friendly, litter trained and have had their first vaccine. We want good forever homes for these babies. Contact us if you can offer them the love and care they deserve.

2 Lovely dogs need a new home.

The sandy coloured dog is called Lu Lu and looks like a cross between a corgi and a husky, she is small to medium size. She is 3 years old, vaccinated, house trained, microchipped, pet passport and speyed. She is a lovely dog with a wonderful temperament. She loves other dogs and children. She is good on and off the lead on walks but if she can escape a garden she will so wherever she lives needs to be secure. However if she does get out she always comes back!

The black dog is Bobby, he must have border collie in him. He is a large dog, 1 year old, vaccinated, castrated, house trained and microchipped. He is a gorgeous dog, wonderful temperament, loves to play, loves other dogs and children. He likes lots of attention and love and hugs. He doesn't much liike being on his own all day. Being young still he is very playful and energetic but great fun. He is good on and off the lead on walks.
VERY GOOD NEWS. LULU IS GOING TO A FANTASTIC HOME IN THE UK WE HOPE SHE WILL FLY NEXT WEEK. BOBBY HAS JUST GONE ON TRIAL TO VERY EXPERIENCED PEOPLE AND WE HOPE THEY WILL LOVE HIM VERY MUCH AND DECIDE TO KEEP HIM AND GIVE HIM A FOREVER HOME. THANK YOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE HELPED FIND HOMES FOR THESE LOVELY DOGS. JO OUR VETERINARY NURSE IN THE UK WHO SUPPORTS PARC AND ALSO SHAMPOOCH PET SHOP OWNERS PETE AND GILL WHO FOUND A HOME FOR BOBBY. A GREAT JOB THANK YOU TO BOTH AND TO THE LOVELY PEOPLE WHO ARE TAKING THEM.

Another 40 cats/kittens

This week we had a referral about a badly injured cat in Coral Bay. Pam and I went to investigate and couldnt find the poor fellow. However, we did find about 40 cats amongst them were at least 15 young kittens, 2 of them very sick. We attempted to take the sick babies but having only 1 basket with me (because of having transported lots of car boot goods) I had difficulty getting the 2 in and one bit me very badly. Sadly we had to say we would try again the next day. I went with Clare today as Pam is in the UK. The sick kittens were not seen but there were lots of females 2 of them possibly already pregnant. I managed to trap these two and they are in with the Veterinary being spayed at this moment. However, we have now met up with a Phillopino lady who has been feeding them and found out that she had food for the cats purchased by the older woman who lived nearby. Sadly the woman died last week and there is now no one to provide food for all these cats. In addition to this we are going to have a tremendous job trying to get them all trapped and neutered. At this stage we have no idea what the overall cost will be to Parc but we must be talking hundreds of pounds. The poor Phillopino lady will lose her job (she was there to care for the old lady) and then there will be no one. Parc face a big financial and practical problem but we cannot just walk away from these dear cats and in particular from the babies. I will take photographs tomorrow when we will be trapping again so watch this space to see the size of the problem facing us. Please try and help us. It is not oftent I beg but clearly this is huge so if you can do some fund raising event to help with this particular problem I would be very grateful. As Parc already feed about 120 cats every day another 40 is massive. Thank you very much to all those who support us and send donations.

A letter to Parc.

Dear Ruth,
There is a little black cat at Tala. The one I took to be spayed and it turned out to be too ill remember? He was doing just fine on the antibiotics Maria gave him and hopefully was going to spayed next week. I got a call from Voukani in Tala at about 6-30pm last night as I was getting ready to go out for meal with friends we were taking back to the airport. The poor litte cat had crawled into a car engine and a young man spotted him through the grill of the engine. The man had already started his car and was moving away from the parking spot. I raced down Ruth and the little chap (we call him Jet) was in a poor state. I phoned Dr. Maria and took him down. Both his legs were broken. She worked on him for over an hour and he is all trussed up now. I took the Young man back to Tala and the little cat is going to stay in a big dog box at his house to recuperate. I am keeping in touch with them and will take the cat back to Tala when he is well enough. Anyway Ruth I had to put the cost of all this work by Dr. Maria on to the Parc Bill. I hope that is in order. I have E50 saved up from my little job and I will give it to you to help with the cost of all the work done. It’s funny people call us when a cat is injured but they never ask who pays the vet bills. He is a defenceless, homeless cat with no one to care for him he just waits for us to bring him food every day.
I feel bad about putting the cost of this to Parc you are always there when an animal is sick or injured. But no-one has a bottomless pit Ruth especially now with the economic situation. Without your support what would become of these cats? I am so grateful (and a little humble Ruth). That poor little jet and all the other cats would have a certain terrible death if it were not for Parc. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for working as you do to help all these poor homeless creatures.
Lots of love
Carol xxxxxxxxxxxxx

THIS IS THE 2ND CAT BROUGHT IN IN AS MANY WEEKS WITH BROKEN LIMBS. THIS IS WHAT PARC IS ALL ABOUT. THIS IS WHAT WE DO. WE CANNOT LEAVE THESE POOR HOMELESS ANIMALS WITHOUT HELP THEY WOULD WITHOUT DOUBT BE IN AGONY WITHOUT TREATMENT. CAROL THANKS ME FOR WHAT I DO. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS BIG AND SMALL. WITHOUT YOUR HELP I SIMPLY CANNOT DO THE WORK. A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE SUPPORTED PARC OVER ALL THE YEARS.

Sad news!

Ann Tracy, deputy chair of Parc has had a serious accident. She has fallen and broke her ankle in 3 places. Ann has always cared for large numbers of homeless animals and currently has 40 cats, 3 dogs and a horse. As she is going to have mobility problems for the forseeable future we are going to have to try and find homes for many cats and kittens. This means that we have had to take the decision that we cannot cope with new admissions. We will continue with our trap, neuter and release programme. Provide treatment for any sick or injured animals and maintain the animals already in our care. We are however asking people to understand that our service will be restricted. Ann has been an integral part of Parc right from the start and her input will be sorely missed. We send her our love and best wishes. If anyone can offer a home to any of our cats then please contact us.
