I am only a little puppy!

WELL I AM NOT A PLAIN JANE NOW!!! LOOK AT ME PURE GERMAN SHEPHERD BET YOU WANT ME NOW!!!

I am really tiny and very frightened. I was found at the side of Coral Beach hotel this morning. Thankfully someone came and picked me up and called Ruth from Parc. She came out straight away and took me to a lady Veterninary. It seems I was probably thrown out of a moving car because I have wounds on my head and my feet. Dr. Maria said they will heal quickly but she did give me an anit biotic shot just to make sure. She also told Ruth she had to feed me on the very best food as I am very undernourished. Ruth asked Karen to care for me tonight but then I am going to a foster home tomorrow. I hear my foster mother is lovely. She is called Kath and Ruth said she would give me a lot of tender love and care. The idea is to find me a forever home but it is difficult because I am just a plain Jane. Ruth said never mind someone with a big heart will look at me and see that I will make a good loyal dog. I do hope so because I have not had much luck so far. Please telephone Ruth if you want me you can call her on 99961157 woof woof.

Sponsors wanted!

Two wonderful British Veterinary Nurses, Jo Welsby and Student Nurse, Stacey Barlow, are raising money for Parc and Sirius Dog Sanctuary by 'Going to Gaol. They will spend the night of 8th March in a cell in haunted Derby Gaol. They work at Ian McConnell's Veterinary Practice in the UK but come to Cyprus on a regular basis to do voluntary work with the animal welfare organisations. Parc will be delighted to welcome them in April and we will have great pleasure in showing them the animals that we have rescued and care for as well as introducing them to many of the animals that we have re homed. Already Jo and the team have had 800 pounds pledged by people in Britain. Of course we in Cyprus are trying to do our bit. If you would like to sponsor Jo and Stacey please telephone Ruth on 99961157 for a sponsor form or to make a pledge.
In the present economic climate it is extremely difficult for all of us so help from the UK is more than welcome. We would like to match what Jo raises pound for pound. Please try and help. We are not asking for vast sums (although it would be very nice!) but every single euro adds up. A jar of bronze coins will quickly make 5 euros and we appreciate everything. Remember every penny donated goes directly to helping the animals in need. No money is paid for work or administration. Thank you.

11 dogs homed since 1st January 2009

Incredibly Parc have found forever homes for 11 dogs in five weeks. We have also been involved in arranging for foster care for 2 dogs waiting to follow their owners to the UK. Many people have worked with me to help these dogs we are grateful to everyone who support us. Parc volunteers give their services completely free no money is paid except for Veterinary care, food for the animals and minimal admin costs ie printing and stationery. Our foster carers are unpaid. We can honestly say every penny donated goes directly to the animals paying for treatment and nourishment. Please continue to support us. Thanks Ruth (Chairperson)

Possibly Parc's best success to date!

Over the years I have worked to save many dogs lives and find them new homes. Sometimes it has proved very difficult either the poor dog was so poorly I had a big problem to save their lives or because of the type of dog I have struggled to find them a home they so obviously deserved.
I have been helped tremendously by our Veterinary Dr. Maria who can be relied on to make a sick dog better and also to foster the dogs that are difficult to home. Little dogs are of course much easier to home but the bigger the dog the harder it is. I have also been helped by the many people who take these dogs in, give them lots of love make them sociable and then bravely give them up when a forever home comes available.
JoJo was one dog I was concerned about. He was a feral dog that had survived on his wits for many months. Julie began offering him food and gradually he learned to trust a human. She called me and asked if I could help. I was very worried as he is a big dog not popular with people. Despite this it was apparent that he had a nice temperament and I agreed to offer support while we looked for a home. I visited him often while he lived as an outdoor dog on Julie's patio. She couldnt let him in the house because she has a little older dog. I treated him for parasites, provided food and a bed. Julie asked if parc would pay to neuter him as she thought he would be easier to home. Again I was concerned because he had to survive outdoors wearing a collar and post operative. Dr. Maria kindly agreed to neuter him and kept him overnight. Amazingly he was very well behaved and coped admirably with being at the clinic. He wandered around the garden and surgery and played with the children. We returned him to his 'home'. Sadly Julie had a problem within a week and it was necessary to move him. I was panic stricken not knowing where I could place a big dog. Kathy called me and asked me for a cat. I was so distressed and worried about Jojo I told her the story and she insisted I take him to her. I laughed afterwards and enjoyed telling people that this dear woman asked for a cat and got the biggest dog I have ever homed. Kathy and JOJO got on brilliantly and he was soon sleeping at the foot of her bed. She works and he had to cope with being left on his own in a house within a couple of days. He did! He was happy. Kathy said she had never had such a well behaved dog. He learned quickly and followed instructions. Kathy was wondering how she could give up this lovely dog but knew she needed to before she starting working ten hour days in the summer. A lovely couple came forward they had recently lost their beloved dog and JoJO went to their home. He settled in immediately. He enjoys life to the full. He plays, eats, loves people and other animals. Kathy will stay involved with JOJO offering to foster him for holidays etc. My sincere thanks to everyone involved in rescuing this wonderful dog. Whenever I have a bad day I think about JOJO and all the other dogs and cats that I have had the pleasure of saving. Long may Parc continue.
