What happens when you leave Cyprus?

The last story about the 18 year old cat epitomises the problems facing animals when ex pats leave Cyprus. I have recently written an article about this situation which will be published in Paphos Post next month. I and other people working in animal rescue are becoming extremely worried about what is happening. We have a formal adoption procedure (as other organisations do) and our literature recommends that animals should be microchipped and vaccinated for Rabies as soon as possible. The cost is quite small here in comparison to the UK. It is less than 100 pounds to have the chip, vaccine and blood test. After this it is only the flight to pay for if a return to UK is necessary. It is no good thinking to do it in a hurry. It takes 7 months from vaccination to passport. Once done it only takes an annual booster for Rabies to keep the passport valid. It should be a formality but everyone thinks it won't happen and they won't go. Believe me many people leave Cyprus and many animals are left bewildered and heartbroken. An animal gives a great deal of love, loyalty and devotion. Please consider him and behave responsibly don't leave it until it is too late.

Older cat needs a home

We have just taken on an 18 year old young cat. He is black and very beautiful and very friendly. His owners brought him to Cyprus 5 years ago. They have had him since he was a kitten. They returned to the UK and left the cat with their son who is 21 he has known the cat since he was 3 years old. He was leaving Cyprus and returning to the UK on Sunday. There was no home for the cat and in desperation euthanasia was decided on. Our Veterinary, quite understandably, refused to kill this lovely cat and the owner was referred to us. Although we have no boarding facilities we decided to take this poor cat in and he is staying with Ann at her home. This lovely fellow needs a one to one home and we are looking for a special person or family to take him on. In view of his age we will place him as a long term foster cat which means Parc will be responsible for any veterinary bills if necessary. Please will you consider giving this lovely cat a home?

Small pedigree dog

We have a two year old male dog who has a lovely temperment. He is small and cute and deserves a good home. He is healthy and has been neutered. We really want a home for him where there are no other animals. If you are looking for a dog with real character that looks a little like Buster on the Paul O Grady show then give me a call quickly. Many thanks Ruth 99961157

Just a little black dog!

Paws very kindly took this little black dog from Parc because we were unable to keep her in a foster home. She has been at Paws for the past two months and is now very happy and well. She will be spayed shortly and can be homed. She is very well behaved and has a lovely temperament. She is x labrador and will make a lovely pet. Please contact Ruth on 99961157 or Clare 99242898. Thank you

Please help with the kittens

We have had two beautiful kittens in cattery for over two weeks. They are in need of a forever home. There is a beautiful tricolour girl and her brother who is white with a dash of grey. They are both very loving kittens who are no trouble at all. They have been spayed/neutered. It is so sad we should have homed these two by now. We have found homes for single kittens but because we can't split these two they have missed out. Two kittens keep each other company, are much less trouble than one on her own. Please will someone come and see them? They are truly delightful. Lets try and find them a home soon. Thanks Ruth

Lovely nine month old male cat.

THIS LOVELY MINK COLOURED MALE KITTEN CAT IS ABOUT 9 MONTHS OLD. HE HAS BEEN NEUTERED AND VACCINATED. HE IS FRIENDLY BUT NERVOUS WITH STRANGERS SO WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO ADJUST TO A NEW HOME. HE IS CURRENTLY LIVING WITH A COUPLE AND HE IS VERY HAPPY WITH THEM. SADLY THEY RETURN TO THE UK FOR SIX MONTHS EACH YEAR. THEY DID NOT WANT TO ADOPT A CAT HE JUST TURNED UP ONE DAY AND DIDN'T GO AWAY. THEY ARE LEAVING FOR THE UK IN MAY. PLEASE WILL YOU CONSIDER THIS VERY PRETTY CAT. HE WOULD DEFINITELY BE BETTER LIVING IN A HOUSE WITH NO OTHER ANIMALS.
Great News, we may have found a forever home for this very special cat, he will be going to his Foster home on Saturday to live with Jean, and we hope they will be very happy together, he surely deserves it.

S.O.S.

REALLY URGENT!!!! WE HAVE JUST HAD A REQUEST FOR HELP. A SUPPORTER OF PARC HAS TO FIND HOMES FOR 17 CATS. HER FAMILY NEED HER TO RETURN TO HOLLAND BECAUSE OF ILL HEALTH. THE 17 CATS HAVE ALL LIVED IN HER HOME. THEY ARE ALL VERY WELL CARED FOR AND MUCH LOVED. THEY HAVE ALL BEEN SPAYED/NEUTERED AND ARE FULLY VACCINATED AND TREATED FOR PARASITES. THEY ARE ALL FRIENDLY. THEY RANGE FROM 6 MONTHS TO 4 YEARS. IF YOU CAN TAKE JUST ONE IT WILL BE A START. THERE ARE ALL DIFFERENT COLOURS. PLEASE PLEASE TRY AND HELP OR THESE DEAR CATS MAY HAVE TO BE PUT TO SLEEP AS THEY SIMPLY WOULD NOT SURVIVE WITHOUT THE CARE THEY HAVE BEEN USED TO.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTACTED ME

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT. WE ARE HAVING AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF SUPPORT FROM THE WEBSITE. WE HAVE HAD TWO PEOPLE OFFERING HOMES TO CATS AND TWO ENQUIRIES FOR PUPPIES IN THE PAST 24 HOURS. ALSO A REQUEST FOR A T SHIRT FROM SOMEONE LIVING IN NICOSIA. WE REALLY DO APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT ALL OF YOU. A MILLION THANKS.
I HAVE BEEN ON HOLIDAY FOR A WEEK SO BEEN A BIT QUIET BUT I AM UPLOADING A NEW STORY THIS WEEK FROM A LADY OF 80 PLUS YEARS WHO ADOPTED AN OLDER CAT FOR US. HER STORY TELLS HOW SUCCESSFUL IT IS WHEN YOU GIVE A HOME TO AN OLDER CAT. MOST PEOPLE WANT A KITTEN, YES THEY ARE GREAT FUN BUT OLDER ANIMALS ARE IN GENERAL VERY LOVING AND LOYAL. THEY HAVE OFTEN HAD LITTLE ATTENTION SO REALLY APPRECIATE LOVE AND CARE. WHILE I AM TYPING THIS I HAVE SALLY SITTING ON MY KNEE. SHE CAME TO ME WHEN SHE WAS A YEAR OLD HAVING BEEN A HOTEL CAT. SHE IS THE MOST LOVING CAT WHO NEVER STOPS PURRING. ALL SHE WANTED WAS SOME TENDER LOVE AND CARE. BELIEVE ME SHE HAS IT IN ABUNDANCE NOW. DO THINK ABOUT AN OLDER ANIMAL WE ALWAYS HAVE PEOPLE ASKING US TO FIND HOMES FOR OLDER ANIMALS ESPECIALLY FROM EX PATS RETURNING TO THE UK. CHEERS EVERYONE.
